What you need

tbsp vanilla extract
egg

cup light-brown sugar

tsp salt

tsp aluminum-free baking powder

cup all purpose flour

tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8"x8" pan with butter and line with parchment (optional). Place butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until melted. Continue to cook, as the butter foams, until fragrant and a nutty brown color. Take off the heat and pour into a large bowl. Let cool for about 10 minutes - this is to ensure you aren't scrambling the egg later. Add brown sugar to the butter and whisk until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Stir in dry ingredients and mix until just incorporated. Add chocolate chips and mix. Pour batter into pan and smooth top. Bake until a cake tester inserted into the middle comes out clean, 25-30 minutes. Let cool at least 15 minutes before cutting.View original recipe
